Postpartum Care
The postpartum period can be incredibly sweet and simultaneously overwhelming. From figuring out how to soothe and calm your new baby, to feeding baby, to getting sleep, there is a lot to navigate in those early days/ weeks/ months! A postpartum doula might be the support you need to put you at ease and calm the chaos.
Postpartum care can look many different ways, depending on your needs in the moment. A daytime visit might include…
A listening ear when you need to talk
Help with breast or bottle feeding
New parenting skills
Guidance on getting baby into a routine
Planning for a return to work (for you or your partner)
Sorting through the various bottles, baby carriers, pacifiers, and accessories that come with a newborn
A trusted professional watching after your baby while you take a much needed shower or nap
Recognizing symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and helping you create a support plan to navigate them
Light housework (baby laundry, dishes, cleaning bottles, etc.)
Connecting you to local and virtual resources to support your postpartum journey
Along with daytime postpartum care, overnight sleep support is also available. An experienced parent/ knowledgeable doula stays in your home to care for baby during night wakings while you get some much needed sleep!
